As someone who has struggled with weight my entire life, I get how hard it is. These days, thanks to social media, there’s no shortage of “experts” out there. The trick is finding what actually works for you — because we’re all different.
I wish it were as simple as “calories in vs. calories out.” But the truth is, there’s so much more to it — mental habits, hormones, lifestyle. This is where I come in: I specialize in helping people figure out how to change their habits so they can reach a healthy weight and, more importantly, stay there for a long, healthy life.
But regardless of your personal nuances, some things NEVER change… and that’s where these tips come in.
I’d tell you how to help you lose weight… if you wouldn’t get offended. But hey — since you’re here, let’s just rip off the band-aid:
“Eyeballing” your portions isn’t tracking. I know, I know — you’re a pro at guessing what 3 oz of chicken looks like. Spoiler alert: you’re probably eating twice that. If you’re not measuring your food, you’re not tracking. You’re just hoping. And hopes don’t burn fat.
Sometimes, quitting sugar cold turkey is the only way. Look, moderation sounds great on Instagram, but if you can’t stop at one cookie or one scoop of ice cream, it’s not moderation — it’s a habit. And some habits need a hard reset. Cutting out sugar (at least for a bit) might be the only way to break the cycle.
Your weekend “cheats” are why Monday feels like a reset button. I’d say balance is key — but “balance” doesn’t mean 5 days on plan, 2 days eating like you’re at a buffet. A weekend binge can easily wipe out a week of effort.
Protein: You’re probably not eating enough. If you’re “not hungry” or “too busy” for protein, don’t be surprised when muscle isn’t building and your metabolism is dragging. Aim higher — your future self will thank you.
Bottom line: You can reach your goals. You just might have to get uncomfortable first. 😉
